Radiant Insight: Winter Yoga & Meditation Retreat in Slovenia

A very special deep winter retreat in the mountains of Slovenia

January 26 - February 1

Winter is the perfect time for slowing down, turning in, reflecting and re-charging. In line with the season we’ll practice gentle flow yoga, meditation and savour the luxury of quietness with a full silent day to rest the social self and re-charge in body & mind.

Join us for a week to rest deeply into quietness, renewal and the wisdom of yoga at the perfect time of year…

Alongside physical yoga practice, we will explore the rich background life-enhancing wisdom of the practice. Every day we’ll have a talk and discussion on philosophical teachings from the yoga and meditation traditions. You’ll carry home with you not only physical renewal, but also long-lasting insights from yoga’s deeper wisdom for a richer, more aligned experience of everyday life.

This stunning mountain landscape lends itself to winter magic. There is often snow at this time of year and there will for sure be sauna afternoons, wide mountain views and quiet mindful forest walks.

Join us for this nourishing week of immersing yourself in the stunning mountains of Slovenia with a deep daily practice of yoga and meditation in a supportive, friendly community.

This is your week to re-connect and re-charge. All sessions are optional, so you can take exactly what you need. There will be plenty of free time for reading, wandering through the trees, dipping / ice bathing in the natural pool, sauna, forest walks, napping…

A retreat from your usual schedule is a powerful way to come back to centre and establish or deepen your practice, taking all the benefits home with you.

Our daily schedule will offer morning practice at the peaceful, 'sattvic' time of day, journaling inspiration and philosophy teachings with personal time to reflect.

Our programme is relaxed and non-dogmatic yet rich and in-depth. Daily, mindful flow yoga will release tension in the body and meditation practice will help to quieten the mind and return to presence. In addition, our discussions will provide insights into yogic philosophy and bring the group together in discussion and reflection in the afternoons.

Talks & Discussion Themes:

  • Yoga - What is its history, true purpose & meaning?

  • How we can befriend the mind

  • What is ‘essence nature’ & how does it apply to my life?

  • Relating to desire

  • Understanding impermanence

  • ‘Karma Yoga’ - finding purpose in everyday life

  • Uncovering a greater sense of belonging, ease & meaning in the world

We'll stay close to the authentic meaning of Yoga and Vedānta wisdom, with periods of traditional 'mauna' practice (community silence) and mindful meditation, giving you the space to re-connect with your purpose and come home to your true nature of ‘pūrṇa’ (fullness).

Our morning sessions will be scheduled at a time that gives you enough sleep. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to have a digital detox in order to rest deeply into in a sanctuary away from busy, switched-on daily life

Featuring guest teacher Anna Galt

Anna will enhance and deepen our practice with evening meditations and an āsana class

Many of you know Anna from Yellow Yoga & past retreats. She is an experienced teacher who I trust deeply. She specialises in pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy and Sanskrit, reflecting her interest in the many aspects of yoga beyond asana

Her classes are gentle whilst deep & playful whilst reflective and we can’t wait to have her onboard

Our home for the week has 23 hectares of its own land to explore, surrounded by forests and meadows, as Ana from the retreat centre says, "as far as the eye can see and the feet can carry".

You're welcome just as you are, whether you want to connect socially or feel like re-charging with quiet time, or a mixture of the two.

Imagine mountain views for miles, acres of woodland to explore right on our doorstep, and a refreshing (!) natural pool to jump into after the sauna.

The food at Veduna is alive with energy and nourishment, much of it being picked freshly from the land's own permaculture gardens and all of it put together with love and according to Ayurveda principles. Veduna’s incredible food is often one of the highlights for retreat guests!

You’ll enjoy a healthy, varied, organic brunch and dinner with tea and snacks available throughout the day as well as a cafe serving barista coffee and cakes for purchase.
